I have this homework assignment on why people should study spanish.HELP!!

•If you speak Spanish you can communicate with almost 500 million people worldwide. Imagine how many friends you could make. Think how many more employment options that gives you! And if you want to travel to Central America, other Latin America countries or Spain, a little knowledge of Spanish will go a long way.
•Third most widely spoken in the world, used by 500 million people, after Mandarin Chinese and English.
•Twenty-five different nations speak Spanish either as the official language or as a primary language.
•Remarkably, the United States of America has the third highest number of Spanish speakers in the world. Most commonly used foreign language spoken by the US's nearest neighbors and many new immigrants speak Spanish. Approximately 17.5 million people (10% of the US population) speak Spanish. By the year 2020, it is predicted that 51 million people will speak Spanish in the US, including many more in the Northwest. The 4th largest Spanish-speaking city in the world is Los Angeles.
•Increase your educational opportunities: Knowing a foreign language will enable you to take advantage of significant educational opportunities, such as spending a summer or a semester abroad.
•Prepare you for graduate school: Students who have studied foreign languages score better on entrance exams such as the SAT, ACT, GRE, MCAT, & LSAT. Foreign language is an important research tool in many disciplines, and reading knowledge of a foreign language is usually required for completion of a doctorate.
•The chances that your neighbor will speak Spanish are greater than him speaking any other foreign language.
•Giant consumer market within the USA. Hispanics annual purchasing power is estimated at $220.2 Billion (estimate by Hispanic Business Inc.)

    1) its one of the international languages
    2) continues to grow (# of speakers i mean)
    3) is becoming a language of business
    4) is linked to french & portuguese, so it would make it easier for you to learn the others if you didnt already know them or make it easier to learn it if you knew these languages

To widen their communication horizons, speak to more people in different places, etc.

    Self improvement

    Mental stimulation

    To cure boredom

Working in Spanish-speaking countries/areas, or as a translator

    To feel educated

Mostly the first one I think. Could easily be padded out to make a full assignment.

-It's the 2nd most spoken language in the US.

-The Hispanic population in the US is growing everyday, so it will always be useful to know it.

-If you know the language, it might make it easier for you to get a job.

-25 nations and territories use Spanish as their primary language.

-It is 1 of the 6 official languages of the United Nations.

-The language is spoken by between 322 and 400 million people natively, making Spanish the most spoken Romance language and possibly the second most spoken language by number of native speakers. It is estimated that the combined total of native and non-native Spanish speakers is approximately 500 million, likely making it the fourth most spoken language by total number of speakers.

    Good luck with your assignement!

You should study only if you want to learn the language and are interested in it. You should not have to learn it in order to accommodate a large group of immigrants who don't want to learn your language.
