I have been learning spanish for about 3 years now, and I cant take any more classes in school. Does anyone know where I can turn too to continue learning on my own and how to maintain it?

There are some ways that I think are the best like reading books in spanish and if you are not very advanced than use childrens books and translate as best you can and any words you do not know write them down on cards with the english translation on the back and practice. Also watching the spanish tv stations can be helpful and entertaining. What I like the most though and I think is most effective is by making friends with Latino people my age and practicing my spanish with them while also learning more of the culture and slang also because there is a lot of slang used in most Hispanic cultures just as there is in the american culture that you dont learn in class.

Watch Spanish TV or read something in Spanish….also write it out once in while, sometimes I forget where the accents go.

YOU CAN TAKE MORE CLASSES AT COLLEGE. IF YOU CAN UNDERSTAND JUST ENOUGH, READ SHORT STORIES IN SPANISH, YOU'LL SOME VOCAB WORDS TOO. YOU SHOULD ALSO WATCH SPANISH CHANNELS ON TV AND PRACTICE IT WITH PEOPLE.

I'm like you. I seem to have taken all the courses in Spanish that I can. I have felt ripped off on every CD learning program that I bought.
I do have a button in the car tuned to a Spanish station. The music is not bad. And I can't understand the commercials! Yet.

Try looking for a classic novel in Spanish. That way, since most people at least know the plots of classic novels without reading them, you'll know whether or not something you interpret sounds correct or not.
Another way would be to find a newspaper article in Spanish, either tangible or on the internet, and translate it as best you can, using a Spanish to English dictionary if you don't know a word. I find that really helps build vocabulary while still being challenging, plus it requires focused attention.

I think that you must do these things:

Watch Spanish TV, ( use subtitles)

    Read Spanish magazines.

    Log in Spanish web pages.

    Chat with Spanish speakers.

Listen to music in Spanish and then try to comprehend it.

Come to Spain in an exchange.

Buy Spanish exercices books and do them.

if you need something , just contact me.

Well, I'm not a spanish student, not at all. Actually since the day i was born my parents, my siblings and mostly all people insisted to speak to me in spanish… that's how I learned it… yes, I'm a native speaker.

The thing is, if you want to keep learning and improving that language, I would suggest to do the same thing I did to learn english (and I have learned many things this way). Get paperback books in spanish. Or get e-books and print it out. there's a good website from which you can download many books in spanish http://www.librostauro.com.ar. Then, start to read them and always underline all those words you don't know or don't understand. Also get a spanish dictionary. Not english-spanish. A dictionary with words and meanings in spanish… and force yourself to understand the words in spanish.

Yes, you can't improve very much your oral skills this way, but remember: most letters in spanish have ALWAYS the same sound (with a very few exceptions), and that's a great help I don't have to learn new words in english. So… figure out how would it sound a word in your head, and then practice to read texts in spanish aloud.

Even though spanish grammar is far more complex than english grammar, this method can help you to remember your spanish and acquire new vocabulary.

    Greetings!!!
