I must congratulate you for your interest in learning. Very few nonspanish speakers in this country wish to learn. They seem to consider it despisable, I cannot understand why increasing your knowledge can be seen as negative. But that is life.
Come to Hialeah, or Miami, especially the SW. There are many places there that are basically Hispanic. Once people realize that you wish to learn, they will help you. Besides, get a good course, study hard and practice, practice, practice.

There is no other way than practicing.
I try to order my food at restaurants or visit with people in stores or wherever. You will make mistakes but you have to go through it. There are no miracle tapes. Start simple and build on day to day conversations.

Yes, of course! Why wouldn't you go to Spain and place yourself into the environment where you cannot speak English at all! That's what I am doing!

As obvious as it sounds, move to spain/Mexico for a while (if you can afford it). Being immersed in a foreign language forces you to learn it, especially if you move to a "non touristy" area where fewer people speak english. I used an exchange program to use french. It took 3 months
