I would like to learn Spanish…what is the easiest way to learn?

I was wanting to teach my 7 year old son as well.

My college uses a software called TeLL me More, by Auralog. It covers not only the basics, but also intermediate or advanced level. My goal was to become fluent so it was perfect for me. It has a lot of different activities: picture/word association, videos, dialogues,…, includes also grammar and conjugation. It has also more content than any other language software. Their speech recognition is great so you can have a dialogue with the computer. You can check out their website at http://www.auralog.com for a free demo and compare too. You can check out independent reviews on the web too http://www.toptenreviews.com or about.com websites.

The best way to learn a language would be through immersion, visiting these countries. Learning a language will require some time. In addition to software, you can have books which are useful as well. Audio CDs like Pimsleur for instance might help you out but you cannot get any feedback on your pronunciation so I did not like it so much

Move to mexico? The next best is get a cd that teaches you to sound out the words. One friend who was determined kept the TV on a spanish station. complete with cartoons.
She didn't do to good but in no time her son was speaking spanish. Even the radio in the car. Listen to nothing but spanish all the sudden it starts to make sense.

Dr. Paul Pimsleur's lessons are the easiest way to learn Spanish. Also the most effective.

the best best way… is to be born in a spanish speaking country. Otherwise, how about a book? a course? Visit a spanish speaking country? What are you thinking easy, you're going to have to learn thousands and thousands of words, and how to use them properly. The BEST way is to immerse yourself completely in the language and not have an escape route where you can speak english. Trust me if you need to learn how to eat, sleep, crap, work then you'll learn how to say it so others can understand it. Otherwise get a pimsleur audio course, or a program called rosetta stone. The program is really good, the other one is just a listen and repeat deal.

I would take a class on it, because I think that would be the best and most thurough way to learn it and then teach it to your 7 year old as you learn it. Not only will it help teach him but it will also reinforce, for you, what you have just learned.

    Immersion is ideal.

Failing that, I've heard good things about Rosetta Stone software, although it's quite expensive.

For you it's much more difficult to learn Spanish or any language for that matter. Not that you can't do it, but it takes a bit longer than your son perhaps. Kids learn much more quickly than us older people. Just pop in a move in Spanish or instructional videos for kids. He'll catch on so quickly you'll be surprise. As for you. Grab some books that are simple but effective. If you don't have enough time to read then an audio tape or cd is the way to go. Listen to it on your way to work or while doing your house work. Overall, when learning a new language try no to learn it as you would learn math or science in school, instead make it a part of your life, use it. Listen to music in spanish, and if possible watch tv in Spanish too. Hope it helps, good luck.

    Live in Spain for 10years.

I'm 18, go to a spanish hairdressing academy, been to a spanish school when i was younger and lived here for 3 1/2 years and still not fluent.

No-ones every fluent though lol not even in their own language, but you have to put a lot of time and effort into it.
But i understand it all now, Spanish is quite easy to learn.
Before i moved to Spain, i had a private Spanish teacher, once a week for an hour, you wouldnt believe how much it helped!
