It's difficult but useful. Plus ... once you know it you can also grasp a bit of Dutch, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, not much but might be useful. Learning Spanish helps you understand a bit of French and Italian , Korean Turkish and Icelandic are quite isolated and they'll help you only in those countries. Chinese .... there is no such language. I chose to learn French because I'm Canadian so I figured it would probably be more useful to me than anything else and I knew I could take some of my elementary school classes in French. I don't regret it after 9 years and I've used it quite a bit of it at my jobs with tourists and with traveling through Quebec and parts of Ontario. <br><b>References : </b><br> I’d say it depends on where you live if you want it to be useful.
