    Hey! very well done …
Hey! very well done! you have not also acquired a great deal of words and phrases, but you’ve also overcome the difficult and stone-rock barrier of english accent! It’s so hard for english speakers to do that spanish rolling R.

Apart from all this, you’ve managed to tell a lot -really- of your life, which means you’ve achieved the most important thing of learning a language: Communication. Everything of what you said was perfectly understandable.

Keep on! you’ve gone too far to leave it there!

    Michael,
    Thank you …

    Michael,
Thank you so much for sharing the fantastic spanish websites you found and your techniques for learning. I wasn’t too sure if I should buy some spanish dvds but am now convinced that it is possible (and better) to teach yourself spanish with the incredible free resources on the internet. You did this 10 months ago so I can only assume you are probably fluent by now at the speed you were learning.
Anyhow, thank you very much for posting this and I look forward to learning spanish

    At 3:00 you saıd ” …
At 3:00 you saıd “me mola Santana” accordıng to spanısh you should say “me gusta Santana” because “mola” from the verb “molar” I guess(I thınk “molar” doesnot really exıst ın spanısh)… ıs a regıonalısm from Spaın and unknow, so you should use better “gusta” from the verb “gustar”, greetıngs.

    Usted dijo “estoy …
Usted dijo “estoy estudiando”. Esso es “I’m studying.” Usted quiere a decir “Yo he estudiADO, sin la n. Esso es “I HAVE studied.” TRANSLATION You Said “estoy estudiando”. That is “I’m studying.” You wanted a say “Yo he estudiADO”, without the n. That is “I HAVE studied.”
Learning Spanish is broke down into these easy steps. Some Vocabulary 1st, then learn ALL conjugations, then gramatic stucture. Then irregular verbs (the ones that don’t conjugate normally) Then read, write, and speak ALOT.

Okay well I kind of …
Okay well I kind of skipped to your day 33 to see if you were actually going to start speaking in spanish so I could see your results. I must say, I am highly impressed! I think I might try your suggested free courses. But One question, its one thing to be able to speak some spanish, but to actually comprehend what an actual spanish person is saying is another thing. They speak at very high speeds. Are you able to understand a few spanish conversations?

    Thanks,

    Karlis

    Ahh busted! :-) OK …
Ahh busted! :-) OK so I did come second in the World Championships a few years ago but knowing how to memorise things is just a tiny part of learning a language. There is so much more to it than that. What I am putting together is a list of strategies to help anyone learn a language more effectively that are easy to apply (not just memory). I am using myself as the guinea pig because despite knowing some cool memory tricks, I failed miserably at languages at school.

    Hola,

Thanks for your comment and your question and your appreciation for the report. Skype is great for learning a language and there are thousands of people who are in a similar situation like you and want to practice their English. As for how long it will take - who knows as it depends on many factors but the key is to practice often and listen to the language as much as you can so you can tune in. Just keep going UNTIL you can talk at a level you are happy with.

    Good luck

That took the wind out of my sail. I do thank you for the free info.
